Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 2026

Draft. This policy is a starting point. Review it, and have it checked if needed, before publishing. Delete this box when it's final.

BibleNotes ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the BibleNotes app for iPhone, iPad and Mac collects, how it's used and the choices you have.

Personal study

Your highlights, notes, tags, bookmark ribbons and settings are stored on your device and synced through your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit private database. We can't see or access this data. Apple's privacy policy applies to iCloud.

Study groups

If you create or join a study group, we create an account for you using Sign in with Apple and store the following with our cloud provider, Google Firebase:

  • Account details: a user ID, the display name you choose and the email address Apple provides (which may be a private relay address).
  • Group content: the groups you belong to, the notes you post (with the related Bible verses), comments, edit history and read status.
  • Invitations: invite links you create, and the email address of a person you invite, if you invite by email.
  • Notifications: a device token so we can send you notifications about new posts and comments, if you allow them.
  • Reports and blocks: content you report and users you block.

Content you post to a group is visible to the members of that group.

BibleNotes Connect

BibleNotes Connect is bought through the App Store, and Apple handles the payment. We don't receive your payment details. We receive the status of your BibleNotes Connect subscription so the app can unlock study groups.

How we use information

  • To provide study groups, sync group content and send notifications.
  • To review reported content and keep groups safe.
  • To respond when you contact support.

We don't sell your information, show ads or use your data for tracking.

Retention and deletion

You can delete your study group account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete Account. This deletes your account and the content you've shared in groups. Your personal notes stay in your iCloud account until you delete them.

Children

Study groups aren't intended for children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
