Personal study

Is BibleNotes free?

Yes. The ESV reader, highlights, notes, tags, bookmark ribbons and iCloud sync are free. Study groups are part of BibleNotes Connect, a subscription.

Do I need an account?

Not for personal study. Your notes sync through your own iCloud account. You only sign in, with Sign in with Apple, when you create or join a study group.

Which Bible translation is included?

BibleNotes includes the English Standard Version (ESV), used by permission of Crossway.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The ESV text is stored on your device, so you can read, mark and write notes without a connection. Changes sync the next time you're online.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone, iPad and Mac. It's one app, so one BibleNotes Connect subscription covers all your devices on the same Apple Account.

Sync

My notes aren't showing on my other device.

Check that both devices are signed in to iCloud with the same Apple Account, that iCloud Drive is on, and that both are online. Open BibleNotes on each device and give it a minute. See Sync your devices.

Will I lose my notes if I delete the app?

Your notes are stored in iCloud. When you reinstall BibleNotes on a device signed in to the same iCloud account, they sync back.

Study groups and BibleNotes Connect

Who needs BibleNotes Connect?

Everyone who takes part in a study group, both the person who creates it and each member who joins. New subscribers can start with a free trial.

How many people can be in a group?

Up to 50 members per group.

Can other members see all my notes?

No. Your notes stay private. Members only see the notes you choose to post to the group.

How do I cancel BibleNotes Connect?

In BibleNotes, open Settings and choose Manage Subscription, or go to your Apple Account → Subscriptions in the App Store. See BibleNotes Connect and your account.

I subscribed to BibleNotes Connect but the app doesn't see it.

Open the BibleNotes Connect page and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you used to subscribe.

How do I report a post or block someone?

Use the menu on any post or comment to report it or block its author. We review reports within 24 hours.

How do I delete my account?

Open Settings in BibleNotes and choose Delete Account. This removes your study group account and the content you've shared. Your personal notes in iCloud aren't affected.
